After the Dominion War ends, Starfleet prepares to go back into their primary mission: exploration. However, the conflict has left the fleet far short of advanced ships for this mission, and experienced officers to captain them. Forced out from behind his desk, Captain Stephen April is ordered to command the U.S.S. Discovery, which has been pulled from the reserve fleet, reconditioned, and made ready for the next great adventure.
